McGaffic Advertising Services - Direct Mail

Whether you need a postcard or a multi-page letter, McGaffic Advertising can prepare a creative results-oriented direct mail program tailored to your business. We’ve designed and mailed millions of direct mail pieces to homes and businesses.

If you need to purchase a mailing list, McGaffic Advertising can find one tailored to your market area, zip code and/or specifications. Or, if you already have an in-house mailing list, we can utilize and develop it to send out special promotions.

Let the folks at McGaffic Advertising handle your next solo or marriage mail campaign. From set-up to mailing list generation, we’ll be with you every step of the way. We’ll help you determine the costs involved with a mailing, including paper/envelopes, printing, postage and a direct-mail house.

One of the benefits of direct mail is that it offers a high degree of control and flexibility. You determine who receives the direct mail piece.

Direct mail can be in the form of a letter, postcard, newsletter or an insert in a publication. Appeal to the reader through a specific offer or incentive, such as making money, saving money or giving away free information or a sample. Postcards are good for announcements or promotions. Above all, stress the benefits you’re offering.

Write the copy in the present tense. Make it personal by emphasizing the word, “you.” Get to the point quickly; otherwise, you run the risk of losing the reader. Color and testimonials increase readership and response rates.

Other techniques include using a teaser on the outer envelope, a personalized letter on high quality stationery, a coupon/special promotion, an order form with a business reply envelope/card and a P.S. The P.S. is a very important part of direct mail. It should be a restatement of your offer.

The direct mail piece should end by urging the reader to act with a deadline. What’s more, make it easy to act. Provide all options for purchasing, from phone and fax numbers to email and website ordering options.

Whenever possible, use real stamps instead of metered postage. Hand address the envelopes while you’re at it.

For direct mail newsletters, include information on topics the reader will find useful, such as your area of expertise or back-to-school tips. Layout and graphics are also important. Many service companies, such as specialty stores and HVAC businesses, have tremendous success by communicating with customers through custom newsletters that are sent out on a regular basis.
